清贫的女学生彩子因生活所迫与供职于高校的医学副教授泷川亮吉（小泽荣太郎 饰）结婚，然两人性格年龄皆有较大差距，婚后生活并不和谐。泷川的学生幸田（川口浩 饰）适时走入他们的生活，这让彩子既感欣慰，有承受更大的痛苦。
